Dolphin Reef (Sataya Reef)

A diver’s paradise to get up close and personal with friendly fish!

Shaab Sataya, otherwise known as Dolphin Reef, is situated at the southeastern sector of the Fury Shoal diving site off Marsa Alam area. This horseshoe-shaped reef is named after the friendly dolphins that can be spotted quite frequently within the reef. They tend to get up close and personal with divers and snorkelers who come to visit, making this the perfect destination for those looking to experience a frolicking good time with these underwater mammals. Dive deeper and you will be treated to the sight of all kinds of colourful fishes, ranging from whitetips to fusiliers, Spanish dancers and parrotfish. Thankfully, you don’t have to go too deep to find them either, as they can be found just 40 metres underwater. The clear blue waters make this a welcome respite from the hot sun, and the best part is that it is conveniently accessible too. You can get here by boat from Marsa Alam, and if you wish to experience the dive site in its full resplendence, then why not try out the Red Sea dive safari trails? These ensure that you get to see all kinds of underwater creatures as you traverse the calm waters. Even if you’re not a scuba diver, you can still try out snorkeling over here. While you might not be able to see the vast underwater ecosystem surrounding you, at least you’ll have dolphins dancing gracefully around you! You will also be amazed by the amazing variety of whitetips, fusiliers, Spanish dancers and parrotfish which can be found at various depths, from 4m all the way down to 40m. The site can be reached by boat from Marsa Alam and the best way to experience the dive site is through the Red Sea dive safari trails. If you are not a scubadiver, consider coming aboard for amazing snorkelling sessions as well!
