Australian National Maritime Museum

Boasting several galleries revolving around maritime-related themes.

Opened in 1991, the Australian National Maritime Museum (ANMM) is one of six museums operated by the federal government. The museum is demarcated into seven galleries revolving around maritime-related themes. Besides exploring the founding of Australia as well as the Aboriginal relationship with the sea, these also range from naval defense to sea travel and even water sports.

In addition, the ANMM also features a collection of historical vessels such as the submarine HMAS Onslow, the destroyer HMAS Vampire and HM Bark Endeavour Replica, all for your viewing pleasure. The smaller ships outside are not open for public viewing, but they do make great opportunities for photos! In fact, you could even get on board a timbre motorboat for a short sail. The MB172 is a restored ship formerly used to transport officers. Today, visitors can get a firsthand experience on this historical vessel, so what are you waiting for? Come on board today!

Tips Before You Go
The historical vessels can all be entered, with there being volunteer guides who will explain their significance. However, make sure to check the weather forecast beforehand. If the forecast predicts hot weather, then you might want to postpone your visit to the vessels. This is due to them getting unbearably hot when the sun\'s out, which could hamper your enjoyment.
