Aquaria KLCC

Travel through the open waters of the Pacific, the winding rivers of the Brazilian Amazon and up the tropical forest planes of Malaysia in a single day at the Aquaria KLCC.

Few would expect an entire world of aquatic creatures to be hidden within a Conference Centre amidst the commercial outlets and franchises found all over. That is precisely what the Aquaria KLCC does as its visitors enter the bowels of the beast, venturing forward the mood lighted walkways beyond the concourse of the KLCC. From Brazil and South America to Malaysia, the aquarium has a total of 5,000 exhibits on four key habitats that displays 150 marine species.

Pulled forward by the rolling runway through a 90m tube tunneling through a tank, gape at the toothed slits at the bottom of the seas angels as the blue rays fly past your head. Calm and depthless black pits fix upon you as the king of the sea drifts out of a bed of sand by a shipwreck, faint stripes identifying him as a Tiger Shark. Narrow jaw jutting forward, the arapaima is unmistakable against the river banks recreated in the aquarium. It is a docile behemoth of a fish lazily drifting past, countless scales glimmering crimson and grey beneath the light. Down a maze of pathways and winding ramps, don’t leave out the DNA Gene Pool towards the entrance where you can dip your hands into the water to rub against the slimy or ridged skin of sea cucumbers, the unexpected cousin of their five armed neighbors. Stiff branches of coral complete the petting zone where the textures of the marine creatures are bound to catch you by surprise. An endless depth of knowledge and views of aquatic life on earth as never seen before await you at the Aquaria KLCC.

Tips Before You Go
Thrice a week, the Aquaria carries out live feeding sessions at specified times within its vast tanks as trained divers descend to shower the listless creatures with rewards after a long day. That, however, isn’t the closes you can get to the marine life. Certified divers can sign up for the Diving with Sharks program to strap on air tanks for themselves to swim to less than a meter away from these lethal prehistoric giants. The Cage Rage is an alternative program where you will be lowered in a metal cage to gain a closer audience with these famed legends.
