Touted as the largest nutmeg tree forest in the world, the Bijarim Forest is home to about 2,800 nutmeg trees. Estimated to be between 500 to 800 years old, many of these trees are around 7-14m in height. Trek into the heart of Bijarim to see the grand dame of the nutmeg trees, also known as the ‘Ancestor of the Bija trees.’ Considered to be the oldest tree on Jeju Island, it is around 800 years old and stands at an imposing height of 25m. Looking for some natural therapy? Take a leisurely stroll and indulge in some forest bathing which purportedly has untold health benefits. Admire the exotic wild orchids and other flowers in Bijarim and watch the pretty butterflies fluttering about with their colourful wings. Nature truly is magical.
