Bahia Palace

Visit what was intended to be the greatest palace of its time in Marrakesh.

The Bahia Palace is a palace and a collection of gardens situated in the city of Marrakesh in Morocco. It was established in the late nineteenth century and was built with the hopes of it becoming the greatest palace of its time. Its name translates into ‘brilliance’ and like other buildings built during this period, it is a splendid tribute to Eastern architecture, incorporating both Islamic and Moroccan influences in its design and structure.

Marvel at the palace’s beautiful design, with its subtle stucco panels, tiled floors, flawless arches, shiny marble fines and painted ceilings just some of the decorations that adorn the palace. With over 160 different rooms, this massive spectacle is indeed a work of art and was built for royalty indeed. Yet it comes as no surprise that this palace was so intricately designed, as renowned craftsmen from neighbouring lands took fifteen years to create all these decorations.

Of course, if you aren’t satisfied with the interiors, you can step into the palace’s eight-hectare garden, which teems with exotic plants, to take in the beauty of the entire palace. This majestic palace is certainly one of Marrakesh’s most iconic landmarks and is a must-visit for all!
