Aquario Marinho do Rio de Janeiro, shortened to the rather catchy AquaRio, is the largest aquarium in Brazil and South America. A staggering 4.5 million liters of saltwater is distributed over 28 different enclosures. Each enclosure showcases different marine ecosystems, from just off the Brazilian coasts to huge, open oceans. Prepare to be immersed in a flood of different plants, fish and other animals that make up the wonderful world of marine biology.


Want your very own host to guide you through the aquarium? You can create a fishy friend at the virtual aquarium and give it a name. From then on, your virtual fish will follow you around the aquarium and introduce you to its various attractions, which, apart from the dazzling enclosures, include a surf museum and science museum.
