Antwerp Zoo

A delightful menagerie of exotic animals from all around the world.

Enjoy a day of excitement and wonder in the magical Antwerp Zoo! Built in 1843, the Zoo is one of the oldest and most famous in Europe. No zoo in the world can parallel Antwerp Zoo, which is home to 950 different species and over 5000 animals.

In the Zoo, penguins from the South Pole are neighbours of Sumatran Tigers from Southeast Asia, and African giraffes graze just a short walk away from the adorable Australian koalas, allowing you to travel around the world in less than a day. Most notably, Antwerp Zoo is home to several Okapis, a curious African creature with a brown torso, zebra-striped legs and large, teardrop-shaped ears. The Zoo provides each species of animal with its own biotope, a simulation of its natural habitat, so that you can see its wide variety of animals at any time of the year. These habitats do not just provide the animals with suitable living conditions, they’re beautifully constructed too. The giraffes, for example, have the privilege of living in an opulent Egyptian temple, and their birds roost in a Middle Eastern palace.

With a petting zoo, the most beautiful garden in the city and an enthralling sea lion show, Antwerp Zoo is a must-go for families and young children.
